MARIE ANNABELLE ARENDS, age 86, of Ellsworth, MN; died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN. She was born January 11, 1925 in Douglas County, Illinois to parents Benjamin and Lydia Alice (Roush) Allen. She attended rural school in Wisconsin in Marinette County and graduated from High School in 1944 in Wausaukee, WI. While employed for the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Chicago, IL, she met a young man named Stanley Arends. They were united in marriage on March 25, 1947 in Worthngton and resided in Ellsworth, MN all their married lives. During her lifetime, Annabelle worked for the IRS, was employed as a nanny, and worked at Safeway Egg Plant in Adrian from 1957 to 1969. She also worked in Wally?s Caf? in Ellsworth and later co-owned and operated ?Whops Place? in Ellsworth with her husband Stan. Annabelle enjoyed pinochle, reading, crocheting and will always be remembered for her raisin cream pie and homemade bread and buns. Surviving to cherish her memories are her five children, Stanley Arends Jr., Ellsworth MN; Arlene (John) Tolsma, Ocheyedan, IA; Dee (Roger) Kilker, Worthington, MN; Paula Grafing, Marshall, MN and Holly Rehborg (Mike Fuerstenberg), Wilmont, MN; 11 grandchildren, Brian T. Tolsma, Alicia (Brian) Norem, Doug Kilker (Brenda Scheerhoorn), Darin (Tara) Kilker, Jason Kilker, Brandon (fianc?, Emily Mikkelson) Grafing, Heidi Grafing, Trina (friend, Jeremy Reese) Meyeraan, Nicole (friend, Craig Hoefker) Meyeraan, Jerrod Rehborg, McKenzie Rehborg; 16 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Jade, Trace, Colin, Taylor, Brenden, Alexa, Andrew, Alex, Annah, Chris, Ashley, Hailey, Alyssa, Cobie, Ryker; one sister Elnora Soeder; one sister-in-law, Leona (Cecil) Parker; one brother-in-law, Wallace (Grace) Arends; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley in 1994; daughter, Lorraine Meyeraan in October, 2010; great-granddaughter, Shabrielle in 1999; two sisters, Bessie Whittaker and Maxine Merrill; two brothers, Alfred Allen and Wesley Allen.
