MARIE KOEDAM, age 83, of Luverne, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at her home. She was born December 19, 1930, in Beaver Creek Township, to Abe & Cornelia (Van Bemmel) Haak. Marie was baptized in January of 1931; and made her profession of faith in March of 1950. She graduated from Hills High School.
Marie married Albertus Koedam on January 25, 1950 at the Hills Christian Reformed Church. After their marriage, the couple began farming on the farm located between Jasper & Edgerton. They retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Luverne. Marie also worked as a telephone operator, the Hills Exchange State Bank and as a secretary at the Hills Public School before marriage. Along with helping on the farm, Marie also worked for fifteen years at Bayliner Boat in Pipestone.
She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne and attended Bible study at church all of her married life. Marie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren; gardening, raising flowers and quilting in her retirement years. She encouraged music in her children & grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her three children, Ronald (LaVonne) Koedam, Zeeland, MI; Rosalyn (Gerald) Schroedermeier, Sioux Falls, SD; and Jerry Koedam, Englewood, CO; six grandchildren, Robert (Alyssa) Koedam, Heidi (Chris) Van Ginkel, Rebecca (fiancé, Brian Jackson) Koedam, Melanie (Tony) Burns, Andy (Linda) Schroedermeier & Amy (Ben) Boekeloo; five great grandchildren, Noah Koedam, Caleb Van Ginkel, Ethan Van Ginkel, Alexis Van Ginkel & Arianna Drayton; two brothers, Henry (Marianne) Haak, Sioux Center, IA; and Albert (Fran) Haak, Luverne; two sisters, Alida (Al) Ver Burg, Sturgis, SD; and Henrietta (Rich) Haan, Sturgis, SD; and a sister-in-law, Henrietta Haak, Hills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albertus; two infant children, David & Mary; grandchild, Joel Koedam; brother, Gerald Haak; and a brother-in-law, John Vander Kooi.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Roger Sparks. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, in Edgerton, after the lunch on Wednesday.
