MARIE THERESA COX , age 87, of Worthington, died Friday, November 26, 2021, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born March 18, 1934, in Lismore, to Anton and Mary (Wilberding) Koehne. She graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School in Lismore. Marie married the love of her life, William Cox, on December 26, 1955, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. The couple farmed until 1989. They moved to Worthington in 1998. She worked at the egg plant in Adrian; and as a custodian at the Adrian Elementary School. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church from 1955 to 1998; and Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, from 1998 to the present. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking, cooking and Christmas decorating. Marie is survived by her seven children, Vickie (Joel) Stokka, Winter Haven, FL; Steven (June) Cox, New Prague; Bill Cox, New Prague; Lori Spidel, Worthington; Ron (Patricia) Cox, Porter, TX; Jeff (Violet) Cox, Sioux Falls, SD; and Kristi (Al) Fikse, Walker; eighteen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Mickey) Koehne, Sibley, IA; and a sister, Betty (Paul) Nelson, Onamia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on February 13, 2003; an infant brother; a grandson, Tyler Fikse; a great-grandson, Liam Feigum; son-in-law, Bruce Spidel; daughter-in-law, Pam Cox; and two brothers, Raymond & Edward Koehne.
A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, December 16, at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Callahan. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, December 17, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
