Marie Ann Schnieder, age 103, died October 16, 2022, in Worthington, MN. She was born October 3, 1919, the daughter of John Peter and Josephine (Klontz) Gengler. She was raised on a farm near Lismore, MN. She started her education in a country school near her home and then attended Grade School and High School in Lismore. She received her teaching degree from Mankato Teacher's College and taught school in a one room schoolhouse for five years.
She settled in Worthington and married Alvarus (Al) Schnieder on April 19, 1949. She taught elementary school at the Worthington public school and St. Mary's Catholic school until her retirement which she spent volunteering at her church, gardening, quilting, sewing, playing cards, traveling and visiting family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Elks.
Her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Surviving her is her brother, Jack (Gisela) Gengler, her sister-in-law Marcella Gengler of Luverne MN, six daughters; Mary (Gene) Larson of Buffalo, MN, Joan Schnieder of Venice, FL, Liz Tripp of Redington Shores, FL, Rita (Philip) Rear of Austin, TX, Barbara Schnieder of Mankato, MN, Susan (Joe) Ormsby of St. Cloud, MN; two sons, Henry Schnieder of Lenox, IA and Stephen (Lori) Schnieder of Worthington, MN. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Chris and Andy Larson, Tony Tripp, Melissa Splawski, Sarah, Scott and Michael Schnieder, Brenden and Neil Ormsby, Dominick Ormsby Quinn and 12 great grandchildren, Jamison, Madison, Hailey Larson, Ethan, Noah, Allie and Ava Larson. Jaxon and Jace Splawski, Faith and Caleb Roberts, Austin Tripp.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund. Blessed Be Her Memory.
Visitation will be Friday, October 21, from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; visitation also at 11:00-11:30 at the church on Saturday. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Callahan and Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Worthington.
