MARILYN MAE BLATTNER, age 62, of Luverne, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. She was born March 19, 1950, in Luverne, to Ernest and Lila (Harding) Blattner. Marilyn was Baptized in 1957; and Confirmed in 1963 at St. John Lutheran Church. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1968; and attended Anoka Vo-Tech School.
Marilyn married Aloiys Knap in 1971. The couple later divorced. In 1977, Marilyn moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Northern States Power. The family moved back to Luverne in 1990. Marilyn worked at Citibank and at Hutch Technical in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1999, Marilyn retired because of health reasons.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Marilyn was a very creative person. She painted and sketched drawings. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, animals, her cats and especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Teresa (Gary) Kruger, Luverne; and Kathy Knap, Luverne; mother, Lila Blattner, Anoka; four grandchildren, Joseph (fiancée, Cassandra Smook) Knap, Volga, SD; Allison, Madison & Samantha Kruger, all of Luverne; great grandson, Jason Knap, Volga, SD; sister, Kathy (Chuck) Davis, Ramsey; and two brothers, Harley Blattner, Belle Plain; and Gary (Diane) Blattner, Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her father; and infant son, Jason James Blattner, in 1969.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Gary Klatt. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
