Obituary

MARILYN JOSEPHINE COWAN, age 73, of Reading, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the Crossroads Care Center, in Worthington. She was born May 25, 1936, in Heron Lake, to Harold and Bertha (Hullerman) Stenzel. Marilyn grew up in Heron Lake and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. After graduating, she worked at the First National Bank in Worthington. Marilyn married William Cowan on August 16, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. The couple farmed north of Wilmont. In 1989, they moved to the farm east of Reading. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington; the WCCW; and the Wilmont VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling to Arizona for the winter. Marilyn is survived by her husband, William ?Bill? Cowan, Reading; four children, Daniel (Rita) Cowan, Wilmont; Lynnette Curtis, Ft. Fairfield, ME; Ann (Roger) Hirman, Raymond; and David Hartman, Dakota City, NE; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Stephen, Zachary & Mitchel Cowan; Karl ?K.C.? Curtis & KarolAnn Curtis; and Josephine & John Hirman; two brothers, Donald (Elaine) Stenzel, Heron Lake; and John (Judy) Stenzel, Heron Lake; and a sister, Marge (Joe) Hobson, Pine City. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Douglas; and three sisters, Jean, Betty & Lucille.
