Obituary

J. MARION LESTER, age 90, of Worthington, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at South Shore Care Center, Worthington. He was born August 12, 1915 in Magnolia, MN to parents James and Ora (Fisher) Lester. He attended school at Magnolia for 10 years, one year at Adrian, and one year at Clarion, IA. After graduation he continued living with his sister and brother-in-law, George and Helen Heard in Eagle Grove, IA. He worked for George in the gas business for a few years. He then was employed at Leuthold and Hinkley Clothing Store. Marion was united in marriage to Iris Boyington on May 11, 1941. He then served his country during World War II for three years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, they moved to Rushmore, where they farmed until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore for 50 years where he served on many boards and committees. He also was Sunday School Superintendent. Marion served on the Rushmore school board for several years. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and wintered in Arizona for a number of years. Since retiring, they lived in Worthington where they became members of the First United Methodist Church. In 1999, they moved into the Meadows and on February 24, 2004, he became a resident of South Shore Care Center. Marion is survived by his wife, Iris B. Lester, Worthington; children, Sally (Gary) Hibma, Brewster, MN; Pat (Paul) Espeset, Rochester, MN; Peg (Stuart) Lewis, Lewisville, MN; and Roger (Clasine) Lester, Worthington; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leo Lester, a sister, Helen Heard, and a half brother, Raymond.
