(Solma) Boltjes
May 21, 1930 – October 30, 2017
MARJORIE ROSE BOLTJES, age 87, of Adrian, died Monday, October 30, 2017, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born May 21, 1930, in Ellsworth, to Harm and Mary (Timmerman) Solma. She attended country school in District #11, and later District #14 near Adrian.
Marge married Herman Boltjes on December 31, 1947, in Ellsworth. After their marriage, the couple farmed east of Ellsworth. In 1965, they moved to the Boltjes family farm west of Adrian. Herman died on January 30, 1978. In 1993, Marge moved to Adrian. She had worked at the Magnolia Steak House in Magnolia. She later worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home for over eighteen years. After her retirement, Marge "volunteered" babysitting her grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth; the Presbyterian Women; and the Ellsworth American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching the Funtime Polka Hour, country music, cooking, sewing and bird watching.
Marge is survived by her four daughters, Diane (Loren) Raschke, Ruthton; Delores Boomgaarden, Ellsworth; Deb (Larry) Lenz, Adrian; and Darlene (Terry) Miller, Adrian; four sons, Duane (Rita) Boltjes, Adrian; Herman (Dawn) Boltjes, Luverne; David (Sharon) Boltjes, Adrian; and Darryl Boltjes, Luverne; daughter-in-law, Tracy Boltjes, Windom; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Helen Solma, Rushmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; son, Donald Boltjes on November 25, 2006; two infant granddaughters, Sarah & Jessica Boltjes; son-in-law, Gary Boomgaarden; grandson-in-law, Nick Henning; a brother, Harvey Solma; and a sister, Marion (Jake) Hinrichs.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 1 pm Friday at the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth, officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. Burial after the lunch will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
