Obituary

MARK GERALD HOFTYZER, age 24, of Champlin, formerly of Rushmore, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at his home. He was born March 14, 1983 in Bellflower, California to parents Howard and Ricki (Weeda) Hoftyzer. At the age of two the family moved to a farm north of Rushmore. He attended Worthington Christian School and graduated from Faith Christian School in Bigelow, MN. He attended Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls studying HVAC. Mark was united in marriage to Amber Stevenson on June 15, 2002 at Okoboji, IA. They made their home in Sioux Falls working at Tessiers Mechanical Inc. In August of 2005 they moved to the Twin Cities where he was employed at SPS Companies. Growing up he was a member of the Worthington Christian Reformed Church were he professed his faith. He was currently an active member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Blaine, MN. Mark enjoyed hiking, camping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed dinner with his brother and his wife on Thursday nights. Mark is survived by his wife, Amber Hoftyzer, Champlin; parents, Howard and Ricki Hoftyzer, Rushmore; father and mother-in-law, Mark and Jody Stevenson, West Des Moines, IA; brother, Ryan (Larissa) Hoftyzer, Sibley, IA; brother-in-law, Seth Stevenson, Cedar Falls, IA; paternal grandmother, Inez Hoftyzer, Worthington. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Louise Weeda; paternal grandfather, Gerold Hoftyzer, uncle, Jerry Hoftyzer, two cousins, Jesse Van Berkum and Joshua Weeda.
