MARTHA LURSEN, age 95, of Adrian, died Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1927, in Lyon County, IA, to Dick U. and Jennie (Wiertzema) Kruse. She attended country school.

Martha married Clarence Lursen on September 2, 1948 at the Bethel Reformed Church Parsonage south of Ellsworth. They made their home on a farm southeast of Rushmore and in 1960 they moved to his parent's farm south of Rushmore. In 1973, the couple moved to Adrian. Martha worked at the Arnold Memorial Nursing Home, in Adrian, before retiring in 1993.

She attended the United Methodist Church in Adrian. She enjoyed mending clothing for area families, playing piano and accordion, dancing and socializing over a good cup of coffee.

Martha is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Steve) Sathre, Ellsworth; and Karen Greeley, Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, Julie Sathre-Ask and Jill Rosenberg; five great grandchildren, Megan Ask, Nicole Kolbe, Matthew Ask, Brody Rosenberg and Myles Rosenberg; six great-great grandchildren, Nathan, Brennen, James, Emmett, Franklin and Desi; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Carol Lursen, Adrian; and Barb Kruse, Adrian..

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence on August 2, 2014; grandson-in-law, Ted Ask; two sisters, Elva Kruse and Rose Meester; and three brothers, Jacob, Herman and Jake Kruse.

Visitation will be from 3-5 pm Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Memorial service will be 2:30 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Kristi Franken. A private family burial will precede the funeral.
