January 22, 1930 – June 8, 2018
MARVIN RUST, age 88, of Magnolia, died Friday, June 8, 2018, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. He was born January 22, 1930, on a farm east of Magnolia in Lismore Township, to Ben and Tina (Tjepkes) Rust. Marvin attended Dist. #79 country school. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War. He was stationed at Sapporo, Hokkaido Japan.
Marvin married Lena Koens on May 19, 1954 in Adrian. The couple lived in Adrian for two years before they moved back to Lena's family farm where they raised their two children.
He was a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church; and lifetime member of the Luverne VFW. Marvin loved farming ever since he was a young boy. He enjoyed his motorcycles, snowmobiling, woodworking, polka music, fishing trips to Canada and his coffee group. He and Lena enjoyed several Gold Wing motorcycle trips together.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Diane (Paul) Boyenga, Ellsworth; son, Mike (Kandy) Rust, Magnolia; four grandchildren, Brian Boyenga (Travis Hahler) Chicago, IL; Lindsay (Ryan) Lonneman, Adrian; Erika (Jesse) Brake, Wilmont; and Lexi Rust (special friend, Tony Lynn) Magnolia; four great grandchildren, Gracelyn & Eastyn Lonneman; and Kaleb & McKinley Brake; brother, Melvin (Dorothy) Rust, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Joyce (Duane "Stretch") Mulder, Luverne; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lena on July 18, 2017; sister and brother-in-law, Dolores & Dick Dreesen; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George R. & Marion Koens.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral will be 2 pm Monday at the United Methodist Church, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Kristi Franken. Burial with full military honors provided by the Adrian American Legion will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
