IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin
Terpstra
November 4, 1934 – October 26, 2020
Marvin Terpstra, age 85, of Worthington, MN passed away peacefully on October 26, 2020 at Worthington Sanford Hospital. Marvin was born to Raymond and Elizabeth Terpstra on November 04, 1934 in Melvin, IA, where his parents farmed.
Marvin was united in marriage to Jacqueline Gerloff on September 20, 1955. They initially lived in Sibley, IA before building their first home in Worthington, MN, where they raised two daughters, Michon and Darci. Marvin and Jackie moved to Ecumen Meadows in Worthington in September, 2018.
He worked many years for Wells Blue Bunny Dairy as a route salesman, which results in a family love for ice cream and dairy products. Subsequently, he spent his years before retirement as a custodian at Worthington Junior High. While there, Marvin was a favorite among staff and students alike, and was known for his generosity in loaning quarters to students for the vending machines.
Marvin made the Lord a part of his life early on and was a spiritual pillar to many in his faith family. He and Jackie had the privilege of having a fellowship gathering in their home for more than 50 years and are fondly remembered by many for their open home. Marvin's kind and warm spirit will also be remembered throughout the community.
One of Marvin's favorite interests in retirement was golfing and he and Jackie took several trips and spent many hours chasing the little white ball around many different golf courses. There was extra excitement when he hit a hole in one on the Worthington Golf Course. He was also known for his woodworking skills and many have enjoyed the results of his handiwork.
Marvin's greatest love in this natural life was his family and he took great pleasure in being around, talking to, and laughing with his own children and grandchildren as well as many other children and grandchildren that he and Jackie welcomed into their home with open arms. Marv's smile, whistle, and kind spirit will be missed by many.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Jackie, of 65 years; two daughters, Michon (Harold) Hartsuiker, Golden Valley, MN and their children and grandchildren, Collin (Michelle) and their children, Logan, Grant and Carter, Springfield, IL, and Alec, Milwaukee, WI; and Darci (Bryan) Kihle, Minnetonka, MN and their children, Allyson, Minnetonka, MN, Kelsey (Cody) Olmscheid, Sartell, MN and Luke, Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Esther Ernst (Sibley, IA), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
A private family service will take place Saturday at 2 pm.
