MARVIN G. VASKE, age 66, of rural Wilmont, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Dougherty Hospice Home in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born September 4, 1942, in Rushmore, to Eugene and Elizabeth (Diekmann) Vaske. He graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic High School, in Wilmont, in 1960. Marv married Nancy Bell on May 25, 1974 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. After their marriage, the couple farmed on the Vaske family farm south of Wilmont. In 1996, because of health reasons, Marv retired from farming. He began working for Dykes Auto Salvage and later at County Market. Marv was currently working at HyVee Foods in Worthington. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, where he had served as Eucharistic Minister & the Parish Council and TEC. Marv loved and cared for the same land his father and grandfather farmed. Growing corn and beans, and raising his livestock were what brought joy to his heart. As Marv?s health became a concern, he was still raising ducks, geese, turkey?s and pheasants. He was a great dad to his daughters and a good and faithful husband to his wife. He was always very protective of his three girls and always watching our for them. Marv loved his part-time job at Hy-Vee and met many nice people whom he greatly enjoyed visiting with. He worked at TEC and formed many wonderful Christian friendships that he cherished. He was a faithful member of OLGC; it was the center of his life. Marv is survived by his wife, Nancy Vaske, rural Wilmont; two daughters, Sarah Vaske, Worthington; and Anne Vaske, Adrian; siblings, Marlene (Still) Slason, Volin, SD; Vonnie Huisman, Sioux Falls, SD; Aggie (Arvid) Sornberger, Shakopee; Larry (Dawn) Vaske, Worthington; and Duane (Deb) Vaske, Wilmont; brothers?in-law & sisters-in-law, Gary (Shirley) Bell, Calmar, IA; Debbie Bell, Pine Island; Kathy (Lee) Smith, Wilmont; Daryl (Pat) Bell, Hopkins; and Vern (Carol) Bell, Pine Island; dear loving aunt, Mardy Fistman, Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son in 1980; two brothers-in-law, Marv Huisman & Richard Bell; and a sister-in-law, Deb Bell.
