MARY MADALINE BUYSSE, age 87, of Luverne, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage, in Luverne. She was born August 14, 1920, in Ghent, to August and Irma (Sinave) Vandendries. She attended St. Eloi Catholic School, in Ghent. Mary married Leo Buysse on June 3, 1940, at St. Eloi Catholic Church, in Ghent. After their marriage, the couple lived in Ghent. In 1945, they moved to a farm south of Marshall. In 1950, they moved to Luverne. Mary worked as a cook in various restaurants in Luverne. She also worked at Frakes Water Conditioning; and at the Mary Jane Brown Home, both in Luverne. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne. Mary volunteered with the Luverne American Legion Auxiliary, the Blood Mobile & the VA. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, fishing & traveling. Mary is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, AnnaMarie & Arthur Lonneman, Worthington; and Marlene & Robert DeSplinter, Luverne; four sons and daughters-in-law, John Buysse, Granite Falls; Ronald & Brenda Buysse, Spartanburg, SC; Richard Buysse, Luverne; and Mike Buysse, Sioux Falls, SD; sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; a step great great grandson; and a sister, Ann Polifiet, Ghent. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo, on March 20, 1998; daughter-in-law, Sherry Buysse; two great grandchildren, Tara DeSplinter; and Peter DeSplinter Johnson; and two brothers, Joe & Henry Vandendries.
