December 27, 1925 – December 23, 2017
MARY EFTING, age 92, of Adrian, died Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone. She was born December 27, 1925, in Adrian, the second of ten children to Charles and Henrietta (Wealing) Eshleman. She attended school in Adrian and graduated from Adrian High School in 1943.
Mary married Elmer "Chick" Efting on May 9, 1945, in Aurora, CO. Shortly after their marriage, the couple returned to Adrian. They owned & operated Chick's Produce, buying eggs from area farmers, for over twenty years. They moved to Pierre, S.D. in 1967. In 1993, they moved back to Adrian to be near family. Mary became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in 2015.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adrian.
Mary loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure and had a wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh. She spent countless hours putting together jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed creating beautiful quilts and square dancing.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Jo (Dale) McClure, Jasper, MN; son, Bill (Carol) Efting, Glenwood Springs, CO; four grandchildren; Angela (Craig) Ellerbroek, Sioux Falls, SD, Lindsay (Chris) Hovden, Yankton, SD, Brady (Alejandra) Efting, Denver, CO and Casey (Jenn) Efting, Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren; Maddox, Nicholas, Myles and Emma; three sisters, Lois (Walter) Ulrich and Betty (Paul) Hasse, Nancy (Hugh) Sims and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, five brothers and her husband, Chick, on November 14, 2002.
A time of fellowship and a celebration of life will be 10:30 am Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Burial of cremains will be at the Adrian Cemetery.
