Mary Smith, age 84, of Worthington, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Sanford Worthington Medical Center. She was born on December 4, 1930 in Avoca to parents Evert and Gertrude (Sikking) Duinkerken.  She grew up on the farm and attended school in Avoca.
She was united in marriage to William Carl Smith in Worthington. After their marriage Mary and Bill lived in Worthington. Mary raised a family of five and was a very devoted wife and mother. For enjoyment Mary loved to go dancing and often cleared the dance floor while performing the jitterbug with Bill.
Mary is survived by her five children, Mary (Dean) Heck, Littleton, CO:  Sheryl (Steve) Schafer, Carpentersville, IL;  Joseph Smith, Worthington, MN;  Monica (Dave) Anderson, Worthington, MN; Gregory (Cheryl) Smith, Maple Grove, MN;   eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, siblings, Peter (Mary) Duinkerken, Worthington, MN;  Katie Vosberg, Worthington, MN;  Irene Jasperson, Madison Lake, MN;  Evie Jordt, Sibley, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill on August 6, 1992, brother, Everette, sisters, Jenny, Hattie, Jeanette, Gertrude, Wilhelmina, Johanna and Gladyce.
A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington.
