MARY ?LOUISE? THINER, age 80, of Heron Lake, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 at her home. She was born June 4, 1925 in Dell Rapids, SD; to parents James Spurgent and Mary Louise (Schott) Persing. Mary attended school at St. Anne?s Catholic School in Humboldt, SD. Mary Louise was united in marriage to Paul Thiner on April 23, 1946 in Worthington. They farmed in Alpha Township from 1946 to 1969. In 1969, they moved to Heron Lake where they currently reside. She worked as a nurse?s aide at the Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron Lake for 30 plus years. Mary Louise was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake and a member of the CCW. She also was active in the Brewster American Legion Auxiliary. She was involved with cancer research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and participated in fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and her family. As a child, she enjoyed tap dancing and spoke fondly of her pet lamb. She is survived by her husband, Paul Thiner, Heron Lake; five sons, Bernard (LeAnn) Thiner, Worthington; Merle (Patricia) Thiner, Derby, KS; Leo Thiner, Lahaina, HI; Delbert (Brenda) Thiner, George, IA and Frederick (Elizabeth) Thiner, Sioux Falls, SD; 4 daughters, Mary Lou (Steven) Hanson, Lakefield, MN; Faye Anne (Nick) Stahlke, Madison WI; Jolleen (Master Sergeant Corey) Christians, Rapid City, SD and Madonna (Thomas) Kellen, Lakefield, MN; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Bernard & LeAnn children: Adam (Holly) Thiner, Bloomington, IL; Mark Thiner, Worthington; Matthew (Michelle) Thiner, Rochester, MN; Mary Lou & Steve children: Nathan (Kris) Hanson, St. James, MN and their daughter Peyton; Sergeant Eric (Bridget) Hanson, Honolulu, HI; and their daughter Brianna; Faye Anne & Nick children: Isaac, Ryan and Chelsea; Del & Brenda Children: Jason, Estherville, IA; and Todd, George, IA; Fritz and Liz children: Rachel and Natasha; Jo & Corey children: Senior Airman Jeremy (Heather) Christians, Beale A.F.B., CA; Jenna (Sergeant Tyler) Dahl, Jacksonville, NC and Chandler, Rapid City, SD; Madonna & Tom children: Megan Kellen Mankato, MN and Justin, Lakefield, MN; She is also survived by four brothers, Edward, John, Clarence and Virgil. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Persing, brothers, Francis, Leo, Lawrence, Chuck, George and Bud and her sisters, Helen, Laura and Irene.
