MEE KHAMPHANH, age 89, of Worthington, died Saturday, May 2, 2026, at The Shores of Worthington. He was born on November 7th, 1936 in Bahn Khaen, Meungthong District, Xayaburi Province. He was the son of Sa (father) and Ngad (mother). Mee was the oldest of two children. He was a farmer.
Mee married Saa Buarapha in 1961. They had five children together. They continued to live in Bahn Khaen until 1976, when they moved to Thailand. The couple lived in the following refugee camps in Thailand: Ban Soptuang, Maejarim District, Nan Province; Cheingkham Prayao Province; and Napho Refugee Camp, Nakhonphanom Province. In 1988, the family moved to the United States and settled in Sioux City, IA for two years. After that, they moved to Worthington where he has lived since.
He loved gardening, fishing, and watching soccer games, wrestling, and movies. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mee is survived by his brother in Laos, Subin Khamphanh; his five children and their spouses, Bounma Siri (Bon), Worthington, MN; Mike Seeda Khamphanh (Keobounmy), Sheldon, IA; Jun Khamphanh (Somxay), Worthington, MN; Daeng Khamphanh (Amy), Worthington, MN; and Homephaeng Khamphanh (Vicky), Worthington, MN; fifteen grandchildren, Morn, Phone, and Johnny Siri; Aphinya, Jake, Anthony, Alina, Natya, Kaden, Aviena, Asuriyah, Jayden Khamphanh, Justin and Joshua Mychackavane and Neena Sengsiri; seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
His father, mother, and wife proceeded him in death.
Mee’s family will hold his memory close in their hearts forever.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday, May 7 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
