Merlin Walter Winselman

MERLIN WALTER WINSELMAN, age 70, of Adrian, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. He was born March 13, 1956, in Sioux Center, IA, to Walter and Emily (Selken) Winselman. Merlin attended school in Doon, IA before graduating from Central Lyon High School in 1974.

Merlin married Roseann Scherff on June 23, 1978, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian. Merlin worked at Armour’s, Swift and JBS, in Worthington, before retiring in 2020.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, spending time with his grandkids, cracking a cold Busch Light and cooking on his grill.

Merlin is survived by his son, Jason Winselman, Adrian; daughter-in-law, Julie Winselman, Madison, SD; son-in-law, Dave DeMent, Humboldt, SD; four grandchildren, Jayden, Jaren (friend, Morgan) and Jenna Winselman; and Devin DeMent; brother, Norman Winselman, Doon, IA; sister, Bonnie Nahm, Eagan; and three brothers-in-law, Marvin (Bonnie) Scherff, Luverne; Duane (Judy) Scherff, Wells; and Larry (Shar) Clasen, Rock Rapids, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roseann in 2007; son, Joshua in 2020; daughter, Janelle in 2024; sister, Barbara Clasen; and a brother-in-law, Kee Nahm.

A time of fellowship will be from 2-4 pm Sunday, June 28 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorial service will be 10:30 am Monday at the Adrian United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor John Mitchum. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
