MILDRED "MILLIE LOUISE VAN HORSEN, age 88, of Adrian, died Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Adrian Country Living Cottages. She was born March 9, 1934, in Adrian, to Frank and Theresa (Deutsch) Metz. She attended Adrian grade and high schools and lived in Adrian all of her life. Millie married Frank Van Horsen on September 29, 1953, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. The couple lived in Adrian all of their married lives. First farming a few miles outside of Adrian before moving into town in 1968. Millie worked different jobs after moving into town and retired in 1991 from the Luverne Community Hospital where she was employed as a nursery aid. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, sewing, baking, making quilts for all her grandchildren and feeding squirrels and birds. Millie volunteered as a Happy Helper at the Adrian Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; and active in the Catholic Daughters and the CCW. Millie is survived by her eight children, Dan (Pat) Van Horsen, Sheldon, IA; Dale (Mary) Van Horsen, Adrian; Susan (Bob) Rubin, Stewartville; Steve Van Horsen, Adrian; Mike (Jackie) Van Horsen, Worthington; Karen (Brad) Lenz, Brandon, SD; Ron (Tammy) Van Horsen, Adrian; and Lori (John) Sandhurst, Worthington; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Kruger, Worthington; and brother, Norbert Metz, Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on February 22, 2020; daughter-in-law, Deborah Van Horsen on June 28, 2013; great-grandson, James Edmund Lenz on January 26, 2022; two brothers; two sisters; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, from 4-7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, with parish prayers at 4 pm. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:15 am on Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:30 am at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
