Obituary

MILDRED MAE GODDARD, age 96, of Worthington, died Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born November 17, 1916, in Creighton, NE, to Charles and Amelia (Schindler) Miller. She attended country school; graduated from high school and attended three and a half years of Nurses College.
Mildred served her country as a nurse in the United States Army during WWII obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. She served from March of 1941 to January of 1946. Mildred worked as a nurse at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MA. She later moved to Atlanta and attended art college.
She was a member of the Worthington American Legion and VFW. She enjoyed doing volunteer work.
Mildred is survived by her three children, Margaret Goddard, Salt Lake City, UT; Bruce (Amy) Goddard, Franklin, NY; and Patricia (Joel) Mikle, Worthington; three grandchildren, Steffen (Elizabeth) Kuronen, Abby (Patrick) Foley and David (Anna) Goddard; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt Foley & James Goddard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service will be at a later date with burial of cremains in the Alford Cemetery in Monowi, NE.
