MONICA FRANCES SCHAEFER, age 91, of Worthington, formerly of Luverne died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born December 22, 1918 in Luverne to parents Ernst and Bernadina (Bodenburg) Hagemann. Monica grew up and attended school in Luverne and graduated in 1937. She was united in marriage to Russell Schaefer on November 19, 1942 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. After their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Luverne. After Russell?s death, Monica and two sons moved to Worthington on December 1, 1982 to be near her daughter. Monica was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Worthington and formerly a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and fishing. She also stayed very busy helping her husband with the farming and raising her children. Monica is survived by three children, James Schaefer, Worthington, MN; Dennis Schaefer, Worthington, MN; and Linda Moore, Worthington, MN; one grandson, Eric Moore, Worthington, MN; and one brother, Leo Hagemann, Sturgis, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Russell on May 19, 1980.
