MURIEL M. HANSON, age 86, of Worthington, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born August 31, 1927, in Cottonwood County, to John and Emma (Rossow) Swanson. She attended school through the eighth grade.
Muriel married Harley Hanson on August 27, 1949 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Christiania Township until 1973 when they moved to Lakefield. After Harley's death in 1999, Muriel moved to the Atrium Apartments in Worthington. She became a resident of South Shore Care Center in July of 2012.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, fishing and watching westerns on television. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren.
Muriel is survived by her son, Donald (Laurie) Hanson, Menomonee, WI; son-in-law, John Nelson, Spirit Lake, IA; five grandchildren, Ian (Deryn) Hanson, Springfield, AR; Jackson Hanson, Menomonee, WI; Harley Hanson, Menomonee, WI; Teri (Randy) Reller, Worthington; and Daniel (Angela) Nelson, Worthington; and five great grandchildren, Katie, Jon, Zane, Zach & Trevor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley on June 11, 1999; and her daughter, JoAnn on September 5, 2011; and many siblings.
