MYRON "MIKE" LLOYD HARBERTS, age 75, of Rushmore, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Country View Manor, in Sibley, IA. He was born February 8, 1936, in Rushmore, to Hajo and Augusta (Harms) Harberts. He attended country school in rural Rushmore.
Mike married Lois Gehrke on June 1, 1958, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived a short time in Luverne before moving to the rural Rushmore area. Mike farmed most of his life. He also worked at the Rushmore Elevator in his younger days. He supplemented his retirement working for the Greenview Rest Area near Bigelow as a wayside rest attendant.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington; the Rushmore Booster Club and the United Coop Elevator Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Honda Goldwing cycle and spending time at the casino.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lois Harberts, Rushmore; Brad (Juanita) Harberts, Reading; Charlene (special friend, George Williams) Kness, Dakota, MN; Mark Harberts, Gillette, WY; Lori (Steve) Rehnblom, Baxter; Myra (Kelly) Kluver, Winona; Jason (Brandy) Harberts, Rushmore; and Heidi (Jared) Ahlers, Worthington; seventeen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; five brothers, Harold (Virginia) Harberts, Reading; Roger (Jenny) Harberts, Missoula, MT; Daryl (Joyce) Harberts, Rushmore; Virgil (Marlys) Harberts, Kent, WA; and Denny (Darlene) Harberts, Stevensville, MT; sister, Eunice (Butch) Heidebrink, Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son Curtis in 1965.
