Neil Gene Dohlmann

NEIL GENE DOHLMANN, age 81, of Magnolia, died Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in Luverne. He was born July 14, 1945, in Luverne, to Henry and Mildred (Kruger) Dohlmann. He received his education from Magnolia Public Schools.

Neil married Sharon Heikes on July 20, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian. The couple lived in Magnolia for sixty-three years. Neil began his working career at the age of seventeen at Nelson Brothers Department Store. He later worked at Connell Chevrolet Car Dealership, Luverne Farm Store and Luverne Fire Apparatus. Neil later became self-employed as a general contractor and started Dohlmann Insulation & Construction. In 1985, he became a general contractor for building Super 8 Motels. While working in upper New York, Neil was diagnosed with MS and retired at the age of forty-nine.

He was Baptized and was a lifelong member of the Magnolia Methodist Church serving as Trustee and Chairman of the Board. He was an active member of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Dept. for nineteen years; and helped start the MS Support Group in Luverne.

Neil is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Sharon Dohlmann, Magnolia; daughter, Pam (Mike) Wiering, Tyler; son, Tom (Kelly) Dohlmann, Luverne; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Jared) Hively, Eric (Kiley) Wiering, Brent (McKayla) Wiering, Ashley (Keith) Mulder, Allison (Dustin) Verhey, Christian Dohlmann and Justin (special friend, Madigan) Dohlmann; ten great-grandchildren, Connor, Ann, Stetson, Koehen, Truett, Xander, Ezra, Abigail, Clayton and Brooks; a brother, Dallas (Carol) Dohlmann, Luverne; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Corbin Verhey; infant brother, Dale Jr.; sister, Veta (Terry) Sandhurst; and a niece, Teresa.

Funeral will be 11 am Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Magnolia United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Laura Borman. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place at a later date.

Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, is in charge of arrangements.
