NORBERT L. MORMANN, age 96, of Worthington, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born March 10, 1921, in rural Nobles County, to Benjamin and Mary (Schutz) Mormann. He attended country school in Larkin Township and later attended St. Adrian Catholic School. He cared for his father and mother's farm beginning at age sixteen.
Norbert married Margaret Wester on April 10, 1945, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Lismore. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Rushmore until 1960, when they moved to the farm near Lismore. In 1982, they retired and moved to Worthington. Norbert then worked for the US Dept of Agriculture until 1989.
He was an active member of St. Mary's Parish in Worthington; and a current member of St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. Norbert was a seventy two year member of the Knights of Columbus; the Catholic Aid Association; and a seventy nine year member of the St. Joseph Society. Norbert delivered meals on wheels, donated blood and was a member of the Lismore Coop Telephone Board and other cooperatives. He enjoyed golf and playing cards with friends and most of all helping his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren learn and grow.
Norbert is survived by five children and families, Douglas and Susan Mormann, Shoreline, WA; Carol and Thomas Long, Kenosha, WI; Allan Mormann; Kathy and Scot Henning, Adrian; and Lori and Larry Voss, Adrian; twelve grandchildren, Sarah (Marc) Fernandez, Meredith (Nathan) Anderson, Amber (Mario) Peraza, Emily (Victor) Munoz-Long, Allison Long, Claire Long, Ryan (Lindsay) Henning, Jenna (James) Spagnuolo, Andrea Dee (Milos) Mitrovic, Brent (Celeste) Voss, Christine (Trent) Bullerman and Hilary Voss; and fourteen great grandchildren, Finn, Linnea Zoe, Maya, Marguerite, Max, Rosa, Haley, Adriana, Grayson, Chase, Nina, Keaton, Camdan & Kendall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 2006; daughter, Patricia in 2000; two brothers, Alvin & Gregor Mormann; and a sister, Armella Fagerness.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 am to 1 pm, with a Rosary service at 1 pm, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. Funeral Mass will be 1:30 pm Friday at St. Adrian Catholic Church officiated by Monsignor Rick Colletti & Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the St. Adrian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
