Norma Ann (Sieve) Johanning, age 87, of Worthington, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.  As she made her journey home to meet our Lord and Savior, her family gathered around her, praying softly and filling the room with her favorite Christian music — just the way she would have wanted!

Norma was born on September 23, 1938, in Bloom Township, Nobles County, to Joseph and Mildred (Busch) Sieve. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic High School in Wilmont, and began her first job at Sears in Worthington.

On September 16, 1958, she married the love of her life, Edwin Johanning, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their four daughters on a farm near St. Kilian before moving to Worthington in 1989. Norma accepted a baking position in the Dietary Department at Worthington Regional Hospital, where she shared her warmth, and her wonderful baked goods, for more than 13 years.

Norma was deeply rooted in her community and faith. She was an active member in many things, like St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar Society, SMOC Board, and the Wilmont VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved being part of her neighborhood Project Group, where countless hours were spent learning, laughing, and sharing life with friends. Music was woven into her days—whether she was listening to her favorite songs or singing with her four daughters at weddings and local celebrations. She lent her voice to the church choir as well, something that brought her great joy. Growing flowers was another source of happiness. She tended them with care, and her efforts were rewarded with a Grand Champion ribbon for her begonias—an accomplishment she treasured.

Norma loved her family! She treasured the simple joy of being together—whether that meant evenings at home with Edwin watching the Twins and Vikings, or gathering for the moments that became family traditions. She looked forward to special outings with her daughters to concerts and shows like Wicked and The Lion King, Ankeny Craft Show weekends with her extended family, and the many joys that grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought into her life.

Her life was full of love, music, laughter, and people who meant the most to her—and she poured her heart into every moment she shared with them.

Norma is lovingly survived by her husband, Edwin Johanning, Worthington; four daughters and sons-in-law: Karen & Randy Honermann, Wilmont; Lori Heglund, Ankeny, IA; Cheryl & Greg Kern, Elk River; and Kim & Dave Demory, Eagle Grove, IA; nine grandchildren, Paul & Krista Honermann, Jill & Josef Leimer, Cody Heglund, Shannon Heglund, Brianna & Peter Kim, Stephanie Holst, Hannah Demory & fiancée, Tyler Jackson, Jaclynn & Rafer Russell and Mollie Jo Demory; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden & Charlie Honermann, Jameson & Jordan Leimer, Eloise & Roman Kim and Quinlan & Juniper Holst; sister, Leona & husband, Roger Lewis, Worthington; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Sieve and LaVonne Slater.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Roger Heglund; brother, John Sieve; and two sisters, JoAnn Sieve and Donna Menke.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, Feb. 26, with Parish Prayers at 4 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation also one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
