NORMAN H. NELSON, age 67, of Magnolia, died Monday, February 1, 2016, at his home. He was born March 28, 1948, in Adrian, to Harry R. and Annabelle (De Boey) Nelson. Norman graduated from Magnolia High School in 1966. He served his country in the United States Army, in Korea on the DMZ, from 1969 to 1971.
Norman married Carol Wallenburg on March 31, 1982, in Rock Valley, IA. The couple lived in Magnolia all of their married lives. Norman worked as a tool & die maker at Fey Industries, Rustrap Industries, in Edgerton; and most recently at Sudenga Industries before retiring in March of 2011.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne; and the Magnolia Fire & Rescue. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces & nephews, taking them fishing and attending their sporting events.
Norman is survived by his wife, Carol Nelson, Magnolia; sister, Myrna Nelson, Luverne; brother, Dan (Deb) Nelson, Magnolia; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude (Ronald) Van Veldhuizen, Rock Valley, IA; Wanita (Howard) Koedam, Larchwood, IA; and Arlene (Gary) Esselink, Hills; ten special nieces & nephews, Deb (Don) Morrison, Tim (Naomi) Van Veldhuizen, Mike (Kristin) Van Veldhuizen, Deanne (Josh) Wallenstein, Brian (Kelly) Koedam, Darin (Jess) Koedam, Jason (Ashlee) Koedam, Steven Esselink, Jackie (Chuck) Black, and Aaron Esselink; and ten great nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Wilfred & Della Wallenburg.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Andrew Palmquist. Burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery, in Luverne, with full military honors provided by the Luverne American Legion & VFW.
