Obituary

OLAV ?OLE? ANDERSON, age 87, of Worthington, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. He was born January 30, 1923 in Westbrook, MN to parents Nicholas and Amanda (Riksness) Anderson. He attended District 68 School in Westbrook. Olav took over farming at the age of fourteen when his father died. Olav was united in marriage to Armella Winter on April 6, 1953 in Luverne, MN. After their marriage the couple lived in Westbrook and farmed. In 1958 the couple moved to Worthington and Olav continued farming in Westbrook. He also was a welder and did welding for other area farmers. Olav loved farming. He also was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed rebuilding tractors. He was featured in the Mother Earth Magazine for his innovative idea on corn drying. He also was an avid reader, nature lover and enjoyed traveling with Armella to various states including a trip to Norway. Olav is survived by his wife, Armella, Worthington, MN; two daughters, Sylvia (Greg) Hasara, Lakefield, MN; and Sandra (Brad) Spartz, Worthington, MN; four grandchildren, Joseph and Matthew Hasara; Lakefield, MN; Kendall and Brett Spartz, Worthington, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
