OLGA AVILDA ?SALLY? (GABRIELSON) OLSON, age 95, of Luverne, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. She was born on June 12, 1915, to Norwegian immigrant parents, Ole and Avilda Gabrielson, in Rock County, MN. Olga, nicknamed Sally by her friends, was the fifth of seven children raised on a farm outside of Luverne. She was married to Russell Olson for forty two years. Olga Graduated from Luverne High School. She later graduated from Mankato College in 1972, at the age of fifty two, with a degree in Special Education. Olga taught in Rock County for twenty five years, both in country school and in Luverne. She was an active and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, which she loved. Olga enjoyed bowling, golfing, pinochle, traveling and visiting her family. Her greatest love was her family, not only her children, but her larger extended family. Olga set an example of love and sacrifice. Her positive attitude and delightful wit will be missed by all. Olga is survived by her four children, Rebecca (Chris) Eyberg of Burnsville; Dr. Michael (Debby) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD; Richard (Laura) Olson of Hope, MI; and Kathryn (Bill) Harris of Sioux Falls, SD; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Clara George of Newington, CT; and a brother, Arnie Gabrielson of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Peggy Roeder, Mertle Mohr & Aagot Umland; and a brother, Gordon Gabrielson. Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff that lovingly cared for her at the Mary Jane Brown Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 2 pm Friday at the Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Ron Nichols. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
