ORVILLE F. LANDAAL, age 82, of Worthington, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1931, in Sully, IA, to Lester F. and Bertha (Wittgren) Landaal. Orville graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, IA. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Orville married Jessie Vander Streek on January 7, 1958, in Ireton, IA. After their marriage, the couple lived in Willmar where Orville worked at Super Value Grocery. In 1961, they moved to Worthington where Orville worked at the Red Owl Grocery. After Red Owl closed in 1976, Orville worked as a custodian at the Lakeview School in Worthington. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings and wintering in Mesa, AZ.
Orville is survived by his wife, Jessie Landaal, Worthington; three sons, David Landaal, Worthington; Dennis (Stephanie) Landaal, San Diego, CA; and Dean (Anita) Landaal, Cottonwood, AZ; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Zachary, Regina, Megan, Matthew & Karac; and two sisters, Edith Vanden Berg, Sanborn, IA; and Joyce Schouten, Hawarden, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; and a sister, LaVerne Boersma.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Sunday at the American Reformed Church in Worthington; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral will be 1pm Monday at the American Reformed Church officiated by Rev. Irwin VanLeeuwen. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Worthington.
