PATRICIA "PATTY" JOAN THIER, of Adrian, was born March 30, 1962, in Adrian, to Milton and Marilyn (Sieve) Hebig. Patty graduated valedictorian from Adrian High School in 1980. She later graduated from Brainerd Area Vocational School.
Patty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday winning her year long battle with ovarian cancer.
Patty married Pat Thier on September 4, 1982, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. After their marriage, the couple lived in rural Rushmore. In 1986, they moved to Adrian. Patty worked in the floral industry in Sioux Falls, SD and in Worthington including Flower Lane. In 1989 to 1997 she provided day care in Adrian. Patty became a Rural U.S Postal Carrier in 1992 and became a full time carrier in 1997. She has been a member of the Adrian Ambulance Service since 1996.
She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; the WCCW; and the Catholic Daughter of America. She enjoyed attending and watching all sports, especially the Vikings and Twins.  Whenever friends would come over they would talk sports with Patty because of her vast 'useless' knowledge in all things sports. In recent years she developed an interest in hockey, grown through the talent of her granddaughter, Brynn.  When she wasn't watching sports she would keep herself informed of all the latest in pop culture by watching Entertainment Tonight and TMZ.  She also enjoyed arranging flowers; if you attended a wedding in the area within the past 30 years you have seen some of her beautiful work. Her pets were always a joy in her life, taking them for multiple walks, but that may have been to get away from all the crazy kids running in and out of the house.  Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren.
Patty is survived by her husband, Pat Thier, Adrian; four children, Nikki (Jon) McLendon, Luverne; Krissi (Philip) Butenhoff, Luverne; Courtney (Robert Swayze) Thier, Bloomington; and Patrick "Tony" (Alyssa) Thier, Adrian; five grandchildren, Brynn Thier, Eli McLendon, Kyler Thier, Kohen Thier & Leighton Butenhoff; father, Milton Hebig, Lismore; two brothers, Kevin Hebig, Lismore; and John Hebig, Lismore; and four sisters, Marjie (Doug) Anderson, Litchfield; Ginny (Mark) Verbrugge, St. Michael; Laurie (Tim) Hermeling, Iona; and Lisa (Paul) Kalis, Sartell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father in-law, mother in-law, and a granddaughter, Paisley McLendon, in 2010.
