PAUL E. BECKER, age 87, of Worthington, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. He was born November 19, 1927, in Heron Lake, to Frank M. and Lorenda (Greenfield) Becker. He graduated from Heron Lake High School.
Paul married Agnes Schwab on April 11, 1955, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage, the couple farmed northwest of Heron Lake. In 1961, they moved to the farm on the north shore of Round Lake. They moved to the family farm east of Worthington in 1969. Paul has been a resident of nursing care for the past twelve years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Worthington, where he had served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Worthington Elks Lodge No. 2287. Paul loved his family and valued spending time with them. His passion was working on the grain and livestock farm which continues with his youngest son Shane's oversight. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.
Paul is survived by his wife, Agnes Becker, Worthington; five children, Marc (Betty) Becker, Worthington; Cheryl Becker, Spirit Lake, IA; Andre` (Richard) Peters, East Wenatchee, WA; Tamara (Mark) Peterson, Lake Park, IA; and Shane (Julie) Becker, Worthington; nine grandchildren, Jesse Becker, Bruce Becker, Jill (Becker) Jay, Michael Berg, Shannon (Berg) Johnson, Brandon Peters-Mathews, Derrick Peters, Cassandra (Peterson) Sabatini & Landon Becker; four great grandchildren, Kassandra, Adara, Giavanna & Emma; a brother, LeRoy; and four sisters, Kathryn, Laura, Darlene & Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lawrence & Gene.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday, with parish prayers at 4 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Callahan & Deacon Vern Behrens. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Worthington.
