PAUL BOYSEN, age 91, of Luverne, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was born February 15, 1920, in Luverne, to Art and Anna (Pederson) Boysen. He graduated from Luverne High School. Paul served his country during WWII working at the Douglas Aircraft Factory in Long Beach, CA.
Paul married Elizabeth Puckett on October 27, 1942, in Las Vegas, NV. He then worked in California in the citrus groves. He operated his own tree service in California for a number of years. He then moved back to Luverne in the 1950's. The couple farmed south of Luverne until 1960, when he began to help build the Hills Telephone Company, with his brother, Don and sister, Gleva; and worked there for many years until his retirement. Paul then moved back to the farm he grew up on. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and collecting antique gas engines and tractors.
Paul is survived by his son, Dave Boysen, Luverne; daughter, Nancy (Don) Patton, Hardwick; seven grandchildren; Jesse (Carrie) Boysen, Larchwood, IA; Seth Boysen (Amber VanVeldhuizen), Larchwood, IA; Shannon (Nick) Vanden Bosch, Larchwood, IA; Megan (Bryan) Doherty, Inwood, IA; Debbie (Rick) Kruse, Akeley, MN; Lori (Gerald) Petersen, Fairfield, Illinois; and Rick (Cindy) Moerke, Hardwick; ten great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; a sister, Gleva Jacobson, Estherville, IA; and nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth, in 1998; and a brother, Don Boysen.
