(Bruxvoort) Blom
August 24, 1927 – December 1, 2018
Pauline Lois (Bruxvoort) Blom, age 91, of Luverne, formerly of Leota, died Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born to Henry and Lucy (Meyer) Bruxvoort on August 24, 1927, on a farm two miles southeast of Chandler, MN. She received Christian infant baptism on October 2, 1927, and made confession of her faith in Jesus on October 6, 1946, at the Chandler Reformed Church. Pauline received her education at the Chandler Public School. On February 18, 1947, she married Dick Blom and on March 1st they moved to a farm four miles east of Leota where they raised their four children, Joan, Diann, Dean and Sherlyn.
Pauline has been a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Leota since she was married and enjoyed Women's Guild, teaching catechism and going to Sunday School. She also liked to attend women's Bible studies and worked at the World Home Bible League Thrift Store.
Pauline passed away at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 6 days. She is survived by her four children, Joan (Tom) Strauss, Elkader, IA; Diann (Dave) Claassen, Brandon, FL; Dean (Sue Rehder) Blom, New Hope, MN; and Sherlyn (Jim) DeHoog, San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren by birth and sixteen guardianship; two sisters, Nellie Dierenfeld, Edgerton; and Frances Veldkamp, Luverne; in-laws, Henrietta Bruxvoort, Chandler; Alvin Blom, Luverne; Glenn and Geraldine Blom, Leota; Frank and Caroline Vander Woude, Chandler; and Earl and Marsha Blom, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Blom; parents, Henry and Lucy Bruxvoort; parents-in-law, Chris and Josie Blom; sister, Dorothy Moret; brother, Harvey Bruxvoort; in-laws, John Moret, Wallace Dierenfeld, Don and Lois Blom, Jim Veldkamp, Gladys Blom, and a great grandson, Daniel Zaragoza.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial will be 10 am Wednesday at the Leota Community Cemetery. A memorial service will be 2 pm on December 28th at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota.
Memorials may be directed to Fishers of Men Mexico (www.fishersofmenmexico.org), an organization founded and directed by granddaughter Julie Claassen.
