Pearl Moi Bertrand, 88, of Luverne, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center. Pearl was a former resident of Winter Haven, FL.? Pearl Berget Moi was born on November 28, 1918 in Luverne, MN to parents, Gust and Anna Moi.? Pearl graduated from Luverne High School in 1936 and was an active participant in the high school?s music, speech and debate activities.? After graduation she was employed as the Deputy Auditor for Rock County. In 1940 she married Florian R. (Bert) Bertrand who practiced dentistry in Luverne for the next forty years.? Pearl was an active member of St Catherine Church in Luverne. She held leadership positions on the Library Board, VFW Auxiliary and the Rock County Welfare Board.? Pearl and Bert were lifelong bridge players and Pearl achieved the rank of duplicate Life Master with over one thousand master points.? Pearl and Bert retired to Florida but maintained a home in Luverne until Bert passed away in 1989. Pearl recently returned from Florida and was under the wonderful care of Luverne Hospice and the wonderful staff at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home at the time of her death. She is survived by three children: Stephen (Linda) Bertrand, of Davenport, FL; Barbara (Mark) Smith, of Williamsburg, VA; Robert (Kathy Kennedy) Bertrand of Council Bluffs, IA; and one grandchild, Kathleen Bertrand of Chicago, IL. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Gust Moi, brother, Warren Thomas Moi of Cincinnati, OH; her husband Florian in 1989, and granddaughter, Stephanie Smith of Alexandria, VA; who passed away in October of 2006.
