Obituary

FRANCES PERRYETTA FUERSTENBERG, age 97, of St. Kilian, died Thursday, August 10, 2006, at the Sioux Valley Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born on Good Friday, April 9, 1909, in Rock County, to William Francis ?Frank? and Agnes Marie (Kachelhoffer) Lynch. PerryEtta graduated from Luverne High School in 1926; and from Mankato State Teachers College in 1928. She taught two years in Nobles County District #86 near Reading, and two years in Rock County at her old country school, District #43. PerryEtta taught all eight grades in both schools, and occasionally did substitute teaching at St. Kilian School. PerryEtta married Leo J. Fuerstenberg on June 15, 1933 in Luverne. They lived their entire married lives in St. Kilian. She was a sacristan for many, many years at the St. Kilian Church. In later years, she opened her home once a week for Mass to be said in her dining room. PerryEtta was a member of the St. Kilian Altar Society and the Happy Country Club project group. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, handiwork items, and gardening. She especially enjoyed time spent with family & friends. PerryEtta is survived by her five daughters, Marian Franklin, Twin Valley; Leola (Michael) Sweeney, Luverne; Shirley (Verilyn) Legler, Slayton; Jane Nekali (Glenn Larson), Fountain Hills, AZ; and Carol (James) Volk, Madison Lake; thirteen grandchildren, Marita Cooper, Monica Franklin, Melissa Franklin, Mark Franklin, Shawn (DeAnna) Sweeney, Colin Sweeney, Linda (Robert) Wagner, Karen (Rick) Bullerman, LeAnn (Bruce) Bartl, Craig (Julie) Nekali, John (Yolanda) Nekali, Jamie (Karl) Wendland and Stacey Volk; twenty four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Lynch, Plainview; brother-in-law, Harold Schlimgen, Mitchell, SD; many nieces & nephews; and special friends, Stanley & Sylvia Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo, on August 9, 1982; two infant sons; a grandson, Michael Franklin; a sister, DeVon ?Bonnie? Schlimgen; and three brothers, Cletus, John Verlyn ?Jake?, and Joseph Quentin Lynch. A tree will be planted in memory of PerryEtta Fuerstenberg, by the Sioux Valley Luverne Hospice.
