PETER JOHN HUISMAN, age 73, of St. Michael, formerly of Wilmont, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the Wellstead of Rogers, in Rogers, MN. He was born July 14, 1941, in Ellsworth, to John and Margaret (Heikes) Huisman. Pete attended school in Adrian. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Peter married Paulette "Letty" Nemmers on August 3, 1968, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA. After their marriage, the couple lived in Wilmont where Pete owned & operated Huisman Mfg. In 1985, he moved the business to Worthington when it was renamed Huisman Machining & Fabrication. Pete retired in 2011 due to health reasons.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. Pete was a former member of the Wilmont Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Wilmont City Council for twelve years. He enjoyed playing softball as a pitcher for many years, bowling, antique gas engines, camping, driving his corvette. He esprcialy enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, family & friends.
Pete is survived by his wife, Letty Huisman, St, Michael; three children, Mark (Stacy) Huisman, St. Michael; Michael (Mary) Huisman, Ft. Myers, FL; and Cindy (Brandt) Bowser, St. Michael; six grandchildren, Mitchell & Hanna Huisman; Zachary & Arianna Huisman; and Blake & Luke Bowser; five siblings, Grace VanBrunt, Mesa, AZ; Donald Huisman, Des Moines, IA; Roger (Linda) Huisman, Wilmont; Louise (Stan) Kuhl, Worthington; and Gloria (Paul) VonHoltum, Luverne; and a sister-in-law, Vonnie Huisman, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Margaret Huisman; brother, Marv Huisman; sister-in-law, Karon Huisman; and a brother-in-law, Darwin VanBrunt.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday, with parish prayers at 4 pm, at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. Visitation also from 9:30 to 10:30 am Saturday at the church. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Fr. Andrew Beerman. Burial will be in the Wilmont Cemetery.
