PHYLLIS EVELYN RABENBERG, age 91, of Adrian, formerly of rural Rushmore, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born December 31, 1921, on her family's farm south of Wilmont, to George and Ella (Brass) Elsing. She attended country school in rural Wilmont.
Phyllis married John H. Rabenberg on February 15, 1943, at her family's farm in rural Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore. Phyllis helped in the office at their corn shelling & trucking business. In December of 1957, the family moved to the farm east of Wilmont. In 1979, they moved back to the Elsing farm south of Wilmont.
She was a member of the Esat Friesland Church of Christ in Rushmore where she taught Sunday School & Bible Study; the Dorcas Society; and the Wilmont VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing & quilting.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Donald (Marlene) Rabenberg, rural Rushmore; Marlys Harper, Perham; and Merle (Diane) Rabenberg, rural Wilmont; four grandchildren, Susan (John) VandenBerg, rural Hills; Kathy (Matthew) Wieneke, rural Rushmore; Ellen Rabenberg, Huntsville, AL; and Beth Rabenberg, rural Wilmont; four great grandchildren, Tucker, Samantha & Taylor Wieneke; and Kaden VandenBerg; two sisters, Geraldine (Andy) Wagner, rural Adrian; and Lillian Nebelsick-Fry, Sibley, IA; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Elsing, Worthington; and Henrietta Elsing, Worthington; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on November 8, 2003; son-in-law, Doug Harper, in 2010; two brothers, John & Willie Elsing; and four sisters, Minnie Ebeling, Amanda Elsing, Jeanette Bunger & Ellene Funk.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday at the Eastfriesland Church of Christ, in Rushmore, officiated by Rev. Beryl Hicks. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
