PHYLLIS MAXINE NERGAARD, age 84, of Luverne, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at the Mary Jane Brown Home, in Luverne. She was born January 21, 1923, in Remsen, IA, to Frank and Dena (Rann) Sanny. Phyllis graduated from Luverne High School in 1940. She worked at a steel plant in Chicago. She later worked at Sioux Steel, in Sioux Falls, SD and Terrace Park Dairy, in Luverne. Phyllis was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1947. Phyllis married Martin Nergaard on May 22, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne where Phyllis worked in many occupations after her children were in school. In 1964, she became an Avon representative and continued until 1995. To this day, she is remembered as the ?Avon Lady?. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; GLCW; Luverne Legion Ladies Auxiliary; Luverne VFW Auxiliary; Senior Citizens; Prime Timers; and a RSVP Volunteer. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her special pets Lady, Dalton, Lucy & Buttons. Phyllis is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard, Morton, IL; Martin & Barbara, Minnetonka; and Tom & Vonnie, Luverne; four grandchildren, Mike Leicher, Lauren (Chad) Olsen, Becky Mommer & Richard Nergaard Jr.; a great granddaughter, Taylor Mommer; a sister, Betty Johnson, Luverne; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Sanny, Luverne; and Olga Wieme, Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin, in October of 1995; a brother, Bob Sanny; and a sister, Ilene Bly.
