RANDALL JOSEPH KERN, age 65, of Bloomington, formerly of Adrian, died suddenly of a heart attack while pheasant hunting near Rushmore, on Thursday, November 21, 2024. He was born August 22, 1959, in Adrian, to Donald and Carol (Hieronimus) Kern. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1978; and from Granite Falls Vo-Tech in 1981.
Randy married Sue Urness on March 3, 1990, in St. Louis Park. The couple lived in Bloomington. Randy worked at Lynn's Auto Body, in Lakeville, for forty years. After that, he worked at PPG paints in Edina as a delivery driver.
He was a member of Pheasants Forever and former member of St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian; He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his dogs, teasing his family, watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events and especially the week spent at McArdle's Resort on Lake Winnie each August.
Randy is survived by his wife, Sue Kern, Bloomington; mother, Carol Kern, Adrian; two children, Carla (Corey) Betchwars, Rosemount; and John Kern, Bloomington; two grandsons, Keegan and Liam Betchwars, three sisters, Cheri (Jeff) Block, Rochester; Diane (Jim) Lutmer, Adrian; and Joan (Darrin) Pater, Adrian; nieces & nephews, Jena (Jake) Thompson, Brittney (Kirk) Oldre, Trent Lutmer, Brianna Lutmer, Jordan (Jordyn) Pater and Jase Pater; three great-niece & nephews, Ben, Ada and Noah Pater; and sister-in-law, Sharon (Paul) Hritzko and nephews, Ben, Matthew and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; Grandparents Lawrence and Mary Kern; Grandparents Frank and Carrie Hieronimus and in-laws, Elvin and Deloris Urness.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, November 26 at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, with parish prayers at 4 pm. Visitation also from 10 to 10:45 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 11 am Wednesday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Lismore.
