RANDALL STEFFEN, age 93, of Leota, died Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Edgebrook Nursing Home in Edgerton. He was born March 20, 1918, in Lakefield, to Herman and Martha (Rehder) Steffen.
Randall married Tillie Kaderabek on June 26, 1940, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. The couple then farmed south of Lakefield; until they moved to Dundee in 1957. Together they owned & operated a small gas station and country store. In 1967, Randall & Tillie moved to Leota, where Randall worked at Mauw's Hatchery for over twenty seven years before retiring.
He was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick; and a current member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Randall enjoyed working with his hands. He a neighborhood mechanic. He repaired many lawn mowers, did alot of engine repairs, and enjoyed his time tinkering in the garage.
Randall is survived by his seven children, Willard (fiancée, Lois) Steffen, Janesville; Kenneth (Wendy) Steffen, Dundee; Paulette (Bruce) Fowlds, Renner, SD; Bernard (Linda) Steffen, Blair, NE; Sharon (Harvey) Vande Voort, Woodstock; Linda (Dwight) Schuld, Sioux Falls, SD; and Marlene (Ronald) Vande Voort, Pipestone; twenty grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tillie, on March 26, 2008; and a daughter-in-law, Sondra Steffen.
Funeral will be 1 pm Monday at the Bethel Reformed Church, in Leota, officiated by Rev. Barry Lang, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
The Leota Burial Association & Dingman Funeral Home, in Adrian, are handling the arrangements.
