Raymond (Ray) Julius, age 87, of Worthington, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Sanford Regional Hospital, Worthington. He was born June 9, 1922 in George, IA; to parents Simon and Jennie (Walters) Julius. He attended rural school near George, IA. After his schooling he farmed with his family. Ray was united in marriage to Mary Renken on March 1, 1946 at her family home on Ashton, IA. They farmed near Ashton and later moved to a farm near Brewster in 1962. Ray milked cows, raised hogs, chickens and farmed his land. He retired in 1991 and they moved to Worthington. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brewster and was a member of the church session. He also served in the Loraine Township Board for many years. He enjoyed country western music and enjoyed everything connected with farming and animals. Ray also enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Julius, Worthington; children, Bonnie (Jim) Hazelwood, Sioux Falls, SD; Diann (Joe) Strouth, Greeley, CO; and Rod Julius, Brewster, MN; four grandchildren, Stacie Patterson, Todd Hazelwood, Tara Mora and Jessica Yarnell, seven great grandchildren and a brother John Julius, George, IA.
