RAYMOND JOHN LOESCHEN, age 92, of Worthington, Minnesota died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. He was born April 18th, 1924, in Ewington Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, to parents Albert and Alma (Huebsch) Loeschen. Ray was baptized on May 18, 1924, and confirmed on April 10, 1938. He attended rural school at district #91 for seven years and graduated 8th grade, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church and school. He was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Ray was united in marriage to Hazel Hammer on August 27, 1946, also at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ray farmed his great grandfather's family homestead for 24 years and after Interstate 90 highway divided the farm, the family purchased another farm only 3 miles away and he farmed that for another 19 years. He then retired and has lived in Worthington, Minnesota, for the past 27 years.
Ray loved farming and being outside, either caring for his livestock, welding, or baling hay. Ray was a great story teller and enjoyed teasing his friends to make them laugh. He loved playing cards, fishing, and played a little golf, which he used to refer as pasture pool.
Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Loeschen, of Worthington, Minnesota and his daughter, Diane Smith, of Lafayette, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Bonnie Jean Loeschen.
Funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Lakefield, officiated by Pastor Jeff Sage. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
