RAYMOND WILLIAM SUHR was born August 7, 1918 to William and Minnie (Mueller) Suhr on the Suhr homestead near Hustisford, WI. He was baptized August 29, 1918 and confirmed June 19, 1932 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford. Ray attended country and parochial school and graduated from Hustisford High School in 1937. He enrolled in Oshkosh State Teachers College and graduated in 1941 with a degree in Biology. After teaching algebra, geometry, biology & physics in Pickford, MI for a year, he entered the Army Air Corps and served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. In 1946, he joined the Soil Conservation Service first working in Woodbury and Monona Counties in IA. He transferred to Rock County, MN in 1956 where he worked as District Conservationist until his retirement. Ray married Dolores Friedrichs on September 1, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, IA. Except for two years spent in New Ulm, MN they lived in Luverne, MN their entire married life. Ray enjoyed reading, walking, traveling & gardening; especially growing iris, gladiolus & vegetables. He followed Augustana College Athletics and the Green Bay Packers. Over the years, Ray was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA, St. Mathew?s Lutheran Church in Mapleton, IA and St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He currently was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, where he had served as Congregation President, taught Bible Class and was a past member of the Lutheran Laymen?s League. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Suhr and daughter, Kristin Suhr of Luverne; a sister-in-law, Ardelle Suhr of Watertown, WI; a brother-in-law, Virgil Wollenburg of Beaver Dam, WI; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman & Wilmer Suhr; and a sister, Lorraine Wollenburg. Ray died in Luverne at the age of 90 years, 6 months & 15 days
