Obituary

REATHA R. WEHR, age 94, of Worthington, died Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday on July 21st. Reatha was born July 21, 1921, in Glenwood City, WI, to Thayer and Etta (Post) Falconer. The couple later divorced. After the death of her sister in 1931, Etta married her brother-in-law Dick Bartling. Between the two of them they raised eight children. Reatha considered her "Uncle" Dick as her dad. She always said, they now have a real family!
Reatha married Rudolph "Rudy" Wehr on August 4, 1940, in Rost Township. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Fulda; and later moved east of Worthington until 1963. From there they moved to Worthington on Rose Avenue until August 22, 2013. Reatha worked fourteen years at the Crippled Children's Home, in Worthington, as the head dietician.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. She loved to cook & bake for her "kids" at the school. Her interests were cookbooks, children's antiques & dishes plus family gatherings and baking tons of cookies!
Reatha is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Carl) Heitkamp, Adrian; daughter-in-law, Mary Jean Wehr, Worthington; grandsons, Clark (Linda) Heitkamp, Sioux Falls, SD; Alan Wehr, Sioux Falls, SD; Brad Wehr, Worthington; Corey Wehr, San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Carri Jones, Rock Rapids, IA; great grandchildren, Dalton Jones, Spearfish, SD; Paige, Preston, Piper & Payton Heitkamp, Sioux Falls, SD; Tyson Wehr, Sioux Falls, SD; special nephew & niece, Gary (Velma) Cortright, Worthington, & their daughter, Gayla (Troy) Aljets, Brewster, and their children, Kirsten, Krew & Kessey Aljets; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Etta & Dick Bartling; husband, Rudy in January of 1995; son, Douglas in January of 2010; step son, Merle in 2006; and her seven sisters, brothers & their spouses. Reatha was the last living relative on her side and her husband's side.
Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Funeral will be 3 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Mark Schreiber. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Worthington.
