REGINA "GINA" ELIZABETH SCHETTLER, age 91, of Worthington, formerly of Wilmont, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born June 3, 1921, in Wilmont, to John and Susie (Schartz) Becker. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Parochial School.
Gina married August Anthony Schettler on January 14, 1941, at Clontarf. After their marriage, the couple farmed northeast of Wilmont until retiring and moving to Wilmont in 1977. She became a resident of The Meadows, in Worthington, in 2008.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont; the WCCW; and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, growing flowers, playing cards, bowling, fishing on her birthday and spending time with family & friends.
Augie & Gina were blessed with six children, Donald (Paula) Schettler, Currie; Pat (Sharon) Schettler, Wilmont; Carol (Steve) Ericksen, St. James; Alan (Jeri) Schettler, Worthington; John (Diane) Schettler, Wilmont; and James (Sandy) Schettler, Wilmont; twenty eight grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, Clarence (Loretta) Becker, Mankato; and Arnold Becker, Mankato; and two sisters, Cecelia Kent, Clontarf; and Rosemary Chamberlain, Benson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August, on October 23, 1997; granddaughter, Tammy Lange, in 1997; three great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Schettler, in 1976.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, with a rosary at 4 pm and parish prayers at 4:15 pm, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Fr. Andrew Beerman. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
