RICHARD CHARLES LINDEMANN, age 86, of Worthington, formerly of rural Rushmore, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. He was born April 9, 1922, in Larkin Township, Nobles County, to Henry and Dorthea (Hinz) Lindemann. He grew up on a farm near Rushmore and attended school there. Richard was confirmed in July of 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rushmore. He served in the United States Army from March of 1946 to November of 1947 in Korea and Kata Japan. Richard served his country as a Telephone Wire Chief. He received a WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. After returning from the service, Richard farmed with his family northeast of Rushmore until 1959. He then worked various construction jobs. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church; and the Adrian American Legion. Richard is survived by his six sisters, Frances Tischer, Worthington; Helen Obermoller, Sioux Falls, SD; Ruth (Vincent) Neuroth, Denver, CO; Donna (LeRoy) Bruns, Worthington; Vernice (Jack) Vander Poel, Pipestone; and Julie (John) Prochniak, Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters-in-law, Lisa Lindemann, Sioux Falls, SD; Lorraine Lindemann, Maplewood; and Linda Lindemann, Worthington; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Funeral will be 2 pm Friday, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Wayne Krohe. Burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery. Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is in charge of arrangements.
