RICHARD MULLIGAN, age 73, of Luverne, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. He was born in Graham Lakes Township, in Nobles County March 27, 1939, the son of Frank and Esther (Snyder) Mulligan. Richard attended country school in rural Brewster and later attended Heron Lake School until they moved to Luverne. Dick graduated from Luverne High School in 1957. He attended St. Mary College in Winona.
Dick joined the Minnesota National Guard while he was in high school in Luverne. He later served for two years in the Army Reserve. He joined the Marine Corp in 1961 and served for two years until he was disabled and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. He worked as a laborer at different jobs after he returned home until he could no longer work.
He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. He was also a lifetime member of the Luverne American Legion and the National Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially bow hunting for deer. Dick always had pets, normally a hunting dog and a house cat as companions
Dick is survived by seven siblings, Robert (Mary Jean) Mulligan, Erin, WS; Jack (Delores) Mulligan, Luverne; James (Dottie) Mulligan, Warminster, PA; Bill (Mary Lou) Mulligan, Luverne; Carol Van Orden, Portland, OR; Mike Mulligan, Luverne; Rosemary (Dale) Moerke, Luverne; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Eugene.
