RITA MARIE SCHEFFLER, age 93, of Worthington, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at her home. She was born January 7, 1932, in Lismore, to Albert and Frances (Recker) Altman. She graduated from St. Anthony Catholic High School, in Lismore, in 1949. Rita then attended one year of nursing training at McKennan in Sioux Falls, SD. She worked as a LPN at the Arnold Memorial Hospital, in Adrian, for four years. Rita married Elmer Scheffler on June 16, 1955 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. The couple lived in Worthington. Rita became a resident of Golden Horizons, in Worthington, in 2021. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington; the WCCW; the Garden Club; and Mission Sewing where she crocheted baby hats. She enjoyed flowers, baking, and her family especially her four granddaughters. Rita is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Harold) Anderson, Lake Park, IA; four granddaughters, Sara (significant other, Jake) Rosenboom, Emily (significant other, Ben) Anderson, Hannah (fiancé, Craig) Scheffler and Isabelle (significant other, Brennen) Scheffler; son-in-law, Paul Rosenboom, Worthington; daughter-in-law, Mary Scheffler, Lino Lakes; sister-in-law, Toddy (Jim) Voss, Adrian; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer on June 3, 2008; son, Dave Scheffler in 2022; daughter, Jean Rosenboom in 2023; .and a brother, Glen (Ceal) Altman. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Monday, January 20 at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. Peter Schuster and Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Worthington.
